RECIPE ALERT : Saffron & Almond Flavored Milk

Kesar badam milk is a rejuvenating and flavorful drink which is served on various Indian occasions like weddings and festivals. Kesar badam milk is enriched in nutrients and very energetic. This is a very good recipe for kids as almonds are said to have properties to increase memory power. It is bit heavy on stomach and one glass of this drink may make you feel full so it can also help people who are dieting. You can replace the sugar with honey for healthier option during diet.

As mentioned earlier Kesar badam milk there are three main ingredients kesar(saffron), badam(almonds) and milk.

Saffron has many medicinal properties, it is effective at treating mild to moderate depression, it also helps in asthma, sleeping habits and many more.

Almonds are super nuts for health. It is said that these crunchy and delicious nuts can help you lose weight, protect your heart, increase your energy and even improve your skin tone.

And of course is well known that milk provides calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and protein which are all essential for healthy bone growth and development of body. All these three nutrient rich ingredients makes it a very rich and refreshing drink.

Ingredients

3 cups milk(700 milligrams) 20 almonds 2 pinch of saffron 2 tablespoons sugar adjust to taste Few drops of rose essence ½ cup of hot water(for soaking) 1 teaspoon thinly sliced almonds for garnishing A few saffron strands for garnishing

How to prepare

First soak saffron in hot water and keep it aside for 30 minutes. Now soak the almonds for 20 minutes in hot water. Soaking in hot water helps in peeling the skin of almonds. Now blanch the almonds. Add the almonds to the grinder and add 2- 3 tablespoon of milk. Grind it until forms smooth mixture.

In a heavy bottom pan, bring milk to boil. Simmer on low heat for 10-12 minutes. Make sure you stir it intermittently to avoid burning and sticking at the bottom. Add almond mixture to the milk stirring continuously until mixed well.

Add saffron water, sugar and rose essence. Stir it well. Simmer until milk is reduced to 3/4 amount. Milk is ready to serve. Garnish with sliced almonds and saffron strand. You can serve this milk hot or chilled.
